Current mood: catalyzed

feeling like i wrote a blog a little too recently i thought i’d rock up the keyboard for another one this month. no idea when i last did one...
so on friday i woke in a green haze to a phone call bringing with it the all too soon hour of midday, as it came to my attention that i had missed a promised coffee date and close to missing the ride up north for our gig in sheffield.
so out of bed like a shot i began travelling, stopping only briefly in fulham to hop in the car for 6 hours to arctic monkeys land. watching the butterfly effect on the way helped me make sense of my life and the nosebleeds/flashbacks i’d been having, but did no good for the old legs. so fast forward to 4am and we were wondering if it had all been worth 10 hours driving for no clapping and an encore.

saturday reminded me that while i had been gone from old friends lives the world kept turning, and though i only saw a few it was worth taking a break from the fam and the £2 entry fee.
sunday then arrived very unwelcome as i was dragged out of bed and onto a bustrain to the place where there is yes a big hill but no foresst and a band waiting for me to join. so after progging out to fuck i made a quick excursion to greenwich, then returned home with a video in hand and a reacquaintance with the green dragon on my mind.
so altogether a long weekend spent being fed up with rising inflection, people who pretend to like grime, trains, transport, and the weight of the world.
no no no no please no 630am.
pancake at the biscuit are good.

so the past two weeks were actually a holiday but for the almost zero sleep and constant skipping between eight in the morning and nine in the afternoon.
so it all started with christmas in the clik world, followed only by things i can’t remember before a longo journey to play at a cinema in a small mining town by the sea. and despite being a city boy through and through i put my country feet on and warmed to the smell of clean air and being greeted by an actual sunset rather than a reminder how much smog city life includes.

week two started with no rest even hinted at as me and bassy played two gigs together on stages of similar height but with crowds of different ages and the second with my recently too re-acquainted green dragon on my shoulder.
sunday started early, when i stepped into the boots of a lieutenant colonel before an audience of my closest fam and stumbled before i could even finish introducing myself.
the rest of the week was spent taking wrong turnings but somehow ending up in the right place, almost commiting a sin against that fuck from e4 and putting the ’and’ in black and gold.
and while on sunday the rabbits made their yearly visit i somehow took a disliking to chocolate and after returning to pleasantville i was surely drained of any holiday energy i had gained at mondays day of work.
so after seeing U2 in real three dimensional techiniclor i fast forwarded to square one of 6 in the morning. i need a holiday.

if you’ve read this far, you’re a loser. or one of the friends i miss who should call.

here i come city smog.

week090308

now as i was thinking that my mood had taken a chirpier turn than the usual on a sunday night, a quick lighting change brought back reality while i wait for the energy saving lamp to work properly.
so the rest of the week was spent entertaining kids in schools across the land. as much as i had grown to love the bus/home it was nice to land my feet on the ground and hibernate for a solid 12 hours.
saturday was no more than pretending with the gang in the daytime.
the afternoon brought with it two bad moods and a meaningless argument with my favourite rodent sidekick, which was nonetheless smooth like ice cream by 8pm.
streetlights were the backdrop of my slanting up hill on a non-myspace bus to the yellow pub in the middle of nowhere. after a few drinks to the tune of mick jagger and his fat girlfriend, me and lioness gave into temptation and spent the night watching ’parenthood’ and succumbing to the green dragon.
sunday woke me up more politlely than ever as i willingly rolled out of bed into the open arms of a fried breakfast on the table. then with bright lights not being bright sparks our band rehearsal was cancelled, so sunday was spent being either 10 minutes or 5 days of daylight, both being the same in my perception.
time to pull the veil down i think
love you mousey.

oh, and we are scientists are the funniest band ever. watch them at the nme awards on youtube and an treat you will find!

week050308

so friday was so long ago i can’t even remember that ahhh yes friday was the day when the boulders were relieved from our tired shoulders in our busy 4 man drama class with our imminent practical exam going smoothly as expected. but not before wanting to explode or smoke 300 cigarettes at once.
no idea what i did friday night, but saturday was spent not really practicing with brooxie before the big night. so our gig (also my school project) went down without a hitch, with me and the big man pocketing a tidy profit and picking up some interest with the bright light project from the men in suits.
sunday awoke me with a teasing laugh and ’no you can’t sleep in’ as i was dragged out of my bed and on to the tube to fulham. this was the beginning of my week spent with mousey, mc wheat and lucky as we jamalammed before getting on the bus! so up we have been rolling at different schools all in essex (i hate essex now) in a bus covered in graffit inside and out and bearing the words ’myspace summer daze bus’ to cries of ’can i have your autograph’ or even more ’can i have your hat’ and playing some tunes for youngsters who hadn’t even heard of a band and thought a gig was a type of fruit.
monday started at 5am and the other days not quite so cruelly, while i claimed some poetic justice and made my token appearance at college worth £20. slammin. next week is not a week off but photoshoots, auditions, gigs and free stuff taking up all the time with which i would just like to see the sea in brighton.
no rest for the wicked.
this blog was shit. more better words coming next time.

i heart myspace. x

so friday was by no means a day off, but a fictional doctors appointment gave me that crucial hour extra in bed. ahhhhhh. so me and brooxie were straight into the studio 10am knocking no less than 2 tracks out of the park in not even as many hours. following hours the rest of the day until the first hour of the next ws travelling and band rehearsals and finally i arrived at the party.
not a moment was lost as within half an hour i was up and partying, blazing like it was going out of fashion and having nice chats with the likes of curly, prisoner, m-power, beardy, lioness, takeaway, brazil, lozenge and a boy who was enjoying grabbing my sleeve.
6am made like that new film 'Jumper' and was instantly 1030, where i dragged myself home only to be straight out to drama and another band rehearsal with grumpus and the rest. but i was all cheered up by lucky and mousey with drinks in town. sunday rudely awoke me at o eight hundred hours for the 3rd band rehearsal, before replacement bus services gave one more point to the world in the 'henry and brooxie vs the world' battle of destiny!
partying with the stars on thursday, or no? you decide.

....qué?

so friday was not a day off but a day for walking 20-1000 miles around london sticking a sticker on anything that didn't move. apart from a bus. which does move but also doesn't. thats a tricky one.

now friday night feeling neither grime nor a trek we huddled round the 21st century campfire with a liquorice allsorts of friends. by 10 could already feel my health taking a turn for the worse, in such a way that (if friday was indeed the year 1901) my maid (if i had one, 1901 style) would never have permitted me to leave the house with 'such a frightful cold'. i also was enlightened to new news which was just grand.

saturday was not a pretty sight, where i had a long awaited meeting with an old friend i should better forget. presently my legs led the way to two buses (the moving and non moving types) ambling to a well of camber. 'Sharp' was the word as i arrived in record time, making but a token appearance with the rising inflection crew and swfitly upon my carriage home again with approx. 2 mins waiting time.

sunday reminded me how far away fulham is, where i spent some quality time with the competition winner and mousey from bodger and badger. and the journey home was nothing but a little too long sitting a little too close to a woman wearing enough perfume to kill a bear.

with 6 weeks to fit into 2 weeks coming up, i will be busy beaver style so be nice to me if you give a dam. valentines day was grand. or was it just a thursday?

so today i learned that 185 people have read my blog. man i should get a sponsor.
i also learned that i am the only member and group leader of a 'blog group' called 'safe people'. i know neither how this came about nor what a blog group is.

so this 4 day weekend subbing for the absent half term laid out for work was already doomed when i snapped out of bed at 10am sharp, got on two buses to broccoli and played some bizzle with two bright lights.
then it was off to the venue we can only assume shakespeare would have hung out at in t-r-e-n-dy hoxton to play the horrifying ghoooosssttt sschoool. club night. being allowed to look after the band beer tokens made me drunk with power resulting in a face-bass collision, if you'll pardon the pun. blonde and brown attended, with my foreign friend almost taking the plunge before bottling out to club the night away in a jacuzzi.

saturday however started well with some light drama and before being squeezed through a tube into north london, where my concentration had already started to waver. enthusiastic sony bmg tea-maker james settled us in before we were relentlessly pummeled by electro, riff rock, hardcore and a poor womans paramore. with my eye on the clock and my minds eye on the time of the last tube, we rushed through performing to some loud 'lads' and a bruise faced white boy with white boy dreds.

the day of rest was no longer so when 9am arrived and i was catapulted to foresthill dulwich and homeagain. only to find my brand new pokemon gameboy game has 'forgotten' how to save during the trip from ebayland to here. brilliant.

photoshoot tomorrow in the labels of diesel and puma. is it really monday tomorrow? snap snap snap. oh, and never read high fidelity by hornby, it's fucking depressing.

check it out, i'm feeling 'selective'

4 day week, 5 day weekend, yes that's right 9 days in the space of seven.

wednesday was once again not a day off but a rehearsal under the watchful eye of management and some a&r 'suit' to use the parlance of our times. so off to the lane of bricks where the bagels are not only the best but cheapest food in town.

and then the road the wrong way to the coldredboxfridge that is 93ft east. i could not smell or see radiohead's presence after their 'appearance' there the previous week and we might as well have been in a caravan in the desert if only trusting the eyes and temperature. playing to a crowd made of ice is tough.

thursday woke me up quickly with a 'no rest for the wicked' jolt and college shortly followed by a journey up to angel, where the islingtonbaracademy was home to time out magazines night. there was a crowd of notebooks it seemed.

and then the wrong train brought me longly to the hobagobbalin for drinks with cabbage, wi-i-ilf, uncle phil, geoffrey, aunt viv and the rest of the gang until just after the torrential rain that threatened my already disgusting hair all day.

although it was too late for cereal snap crackle and pop seemed to be a magnet for familiar faces, with sightings of blindhorse, moonface, bungle, tourist, broomstick, eskimo, and the artistes all mingling. so i danced the night away with moderate chirpsing and maximum drinking and minimum spending. and night buses once again being a godsend were my magical golden carriage home.

saturday felt like the following monday and was just as lengthy, and partying with 14 year olds was not as bad as i thought when a free g&t was to be had.

sunday was stripped of its 'day of rest' title, replaced by getting up and leaving at 9am straight to a good productive rehearsal.

and i walked through the door to find my bed holding up an airport sign saying 'henry' on it seemed pretty close until i was dragged kicking and screaming into a van labelled 'coursework'. this being a metaphor for the workload weighing my shoes down.

if you read this far, get a life.

another distraction from doing work is an online blog.

so friday was not a day off but a 7 hour marathon rehearsal involving arguments and too much public transport but my mood was lightened in
the evening when happy, horsey, girl horse, invisible, fam, birthday boy, clock, burns, curly, moonface, beardy and others ate expensive uncooked food and drank gin/tonic combis.
after skilfully spreading the love and hiding the pickle and dancing the rhythm and staying well away from the dinner plates i walked briskly and tunefully from brockley to greenwich over the black darkness which in daylight is called the heath. escaping werewolfs and madmen was no hard task as they'd all fallen to sleep by then.
saturday was for regaining the spirit and hanging with the bros. before going with the circus to braintree, essex, wherre the term 'essex lad' really does describe everyone who lives there.
oh easy like sunday morning just a walk in the park and trains home.
no work done though, just some smooths grooves provided by mj when he was black with his brothers and some soulful tunes.
wednesday lane of bricks 93ft east (of what? i'm gonna find out) see you there.

go for it you stud.
